Top 10 Must-Have Ebook Apps For Kids

Our adventures focus on encouraging exploration, adventure, and intelligence. The stories will inspire children to have a can do attitude, work with others to achieve better results, accept themselves and others just as they are, speak up, have fun and so much more.

Our 28 story cards focus on themes that we believe are very important in the development of strong confident girls. Each story is usually followed by one or two questions, this allows your daughter to think about how the story applies to herself and also gives you the opportunity to engage in dialogue with her and discuss each theme.

Here are some of the key themes addressed in our little book and app:
  • leadership, taking initiative
  • passion for learning, observing the world, being curious
  • understanding that girls also can fix and build things not just boys
  • helping others, supporting her community, sharing, helping out with the chores
  • appreciating the uniqueness of each person, their differences. Accepting others and one self.
  • identifying and celebrating her strengths.
  • team work, using each-others strengths to accomplish better results and find solutions
  • being adventurous and bold, trying new things, not giving up when it is hard
  • having fun
  • being strong and resilient
  • remaining calm when something goes wrong so that a solution can be found
  • being active, getting out and about, being sporty
  • eating fruit and veggies
  • supporting Mother Nature and the environment
  • enjoying problem solving, having a can do attitude, being resourceful and persistent
  • enjoying learning science and math
  • using creativity and imagination
  • speaking up, being assertive when necessary. Remaining confident when speaking to groups.

Many of these themes are unfortunately not present in many of the “Girls” products out there. Barbies and princesses alike, focus on external beauty, dresses and material goods.

How are you teaching your daughter that girls can be leaders? How are you showing your daughter that girls can find solutions and fix things?
A few strategies used in our stories:

Girls are typically motivated by higher purpose, it is important when trying to encourage your girl to show leadership, assertiveness, interest in science and math etc that you reminder her that developing these skills and capabilities will enable her to help others and add value to the world.

It is important to tell her that being afraid is normal. That all strong leaders are afraid at some point in time, but that they are able to overcome their fears to find solutions to problems and try new things.

At this stage of development, your daughter is extremely keen to belong and identify herself with a group. Role models are very important and unfortunately the most popular role models out there are the Barbies and Princesses  displaying unhealthy unrealistic body images and very passive behavior.

Using role models that your daughter can identify herself with is important in early childhood. We selected 7 girls of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds enabling your girl to connect with one or many of our characters.  Hopefully they will inspire the next generation of confident women.

We are doing what we can but remember... in the end of the day YOU  are the most important role model in her life.

ITunes Reviews

value oriented app with excellent messages... - ★★★★★

by luckygirlamy - Version 1.0 - 26 January 2011

I have a six-year-old daughter and one of my greatest concerns as a parent is raising her to be a confident woman, with a strong sense of self and empathy and care for others. The 7Wonderlicious App delivers those messages through its' stories in a way that is interactive and fun for my child. We've sat together and read the stories and talked about the situations and what she would do and why the characters do what they do. Nothing pleases me more than when she is using the iPad and I hear the voice of the 7Wonderlicious app, knowing she goes to it on her own. I would purchase more apps from 7Wonderlicious if they release them, for certain.

Great for my girls! - ★★★★★

My girls really enjoyed the conversations started by this app. Not only were they eager to talk to me but I really loved how well they were able to share and support each other.

Lovely antidote to the pervasive media aimed at girls. - ★★★★★

As the mother of a smart, funny, five-year-old girl, I love this app! The stories include girls of different backgrounds. These characters celebrate the traits we want to see in our daughters: health, strength, compassion, & curiosity. I highly recommend it.

"I read this book with my son, a preschooler.  He loved it, and I was delighted by how much depth we were able to talk about each topic, including helping, chores, being calm in a crisis, being brave and so much more.  I also liked that he was seeing images of girls doing these things, to counter any negative messages he is picking up about what boys and girls can and can't do.  Recently one of his little girl‐friends at school told her mom that he was the "perfect man" and after this little booklet, he surely is on his way to seeing girls as capable and smart.  It was a proud mom moment! :)"
"I used to be a high‐school & middle‐school counselor, and I was always looking for good materials for empowering girls, especially for the girls' support groups I led over the years.  Based on that experience, I would highly recommend starting a lot earlier in a girl's life with messages that counter some of the more negative ideas we get in society about what it means to be a girl & woman.  I love that this book is aimed at girls under 8, in particular, because that is the point many research studies find that girls begin to doubt themselves."

"As we sat together viewing this app, all my guidance counselor could say was “Wow, I can really see this helping so many of our students in 3rd grade.”  Although iTunes states that it is a great inspirational resource for children ages 3–7"

"We were impressed with so many things that it had to offer.  Sara, our guidance counselor works with a variety of personalities and emotional needs.  Her friendship group is compiled of students that can be described as quirky, shy, and anxious.  She was encouraged to see how the application started off by introducing each of the  7 “wonderful” girls. At the end of each of their “profile” cards it offered opportunities to discuss as a group."
"Part of her objective when meeting with her friendship group is to show them how to start off conversations with anyone they encounter.  These questions were perfect and would really help their young impressionable minds to see how we are all alike and that we should value each others differences."

"It raised some great comments and ideas but most importantly they got the message that it is all up to them. They are in charge if they want to lead, share and help; people are who they want to be as long as they take action and know the consequences."
"7Wonderlicious is a great book app with bright and colourful illustrations"

"This is a great book to use as a springboard for confidence building discussions between parents and daughters."

                    The iPhone Mom Review

"The Adventures of the 7Wonderlicious Girls app encourages girls by using role models in their stories. They are empowered to try new things, to speak up for themselves, to be active. Since reading is not required for this app, toddlers can get a start on learning about what girls can do in a new way."
"Of course, this is an app and won’t change the world. But, it’s a start. It’s also a good way to get mothers and daughters talking, and fathers and daughters talking. My suggestion is to read one story and then discuss it. The opportunities are endless and can lead to girls feeling more empowered in real life.  What we as parents do is up to us. This app can lead us in the right direction."

"The adventure of the 7Wonderlicious girls has charming, sweet drawings. The children are smiling encouragement at the reader. The good morals and self‐help themes are excellent."
"When I was a child, though we learned several academic and physical skills, our socialization and empathetic skills were never truly considered. With The adventure of the 7Wonderlicious girls, these skills and sensitivity issues are addressed in many ways that truly enhances a child's growth. "
"The adventure of the 7Wonderlicious girls is an e‐book that stresses the kindness, goodness and strength of the human spirit, traits that all children regardless of gender need to grow in maturity!"
